Plaid background tutorial with cardmaking tips

Hello hello! ^__^

I'm Halak and today I'm going to be showing you a tutorial on how to create a plaid background through my first project and the second project will consist of some cardmaking tips featuring one of my favorite sets : All Occasions - Hindi.

This is Project #1

Here are the steps :

First, I took 4 designs out of the It's Plaid Time set and mounted them onto my acrylic block.

Stamped the first two designs in pink dye ink and the latter two in red.

After that, I repeated the process and that gave me 8 horizontal lines that you can see here :

As I did in my first step, the second time also I did the first two designs in pink and the next two in red.

Once this was done, I repeated the same thing vertically and ended up with this beautiful plaid design :

So pretty! ^__^ 4 designs, stamped 4 times... twice horizontally and twice vertically gave me this pattern.

I did a small portion in plaid because  I was going to use only a part of it in my project but you can stamp a larger piece of cardstock to make a bigger background.

One this was done, I hand-tore the piece, adhered half of it to red  cardstock and after that adhered the whole piece to white cardstock.

Stamped sentiment from the Bold Hugs 'N' Love stamp set, punched out a few butterflies in red and adhered them along with some pearls + sequins.

So that's how it was done. I absolutely love this plaid set because it makes some really fun backgrounds.

Now, let's move on to the second project :

Here it is, using the All Occasions - Hindi stamp set onto... textured cardstock!

Yeah, I stamped the beautiful sentiment in archival on textured cardstock. It gave me a super pretty textured look that I love!

Check out this close up :

Here's what I did :

Onto textured cardstock, I stenciled a design and stamped my sentiment.

After that, added some mulberry flowers and gave them a pearl center.

Finished it off with some sequins and matted it onto kraft cardstock.

Here are some cardmaking tips :

1. Less is more. If you want texture and do not want to over-embellish, opt for a textured cardstock.

2. Ink you stamp well and test it on a scrap piece of paper first. Once you are certain that the stamp is conditioned and will stamp well, ink it and stamp firmly on textured cardstock.

3. Do not move your hands or wriggle the acrylic block while lifting it because that will lead to a blurred impression.

4. Lastly, while making a plaid design, don't worry too much about precision et al. I used a large acrylic block without grid lines to make my pattern and had a whole lotta fun in the process!

So, I hope you enjoyed reading this and it inspired you to make something new! Till next time dear friends! *Hugs*

Two Pretty Cards

Hello pretty friends...!! This is Shalu & today I am sharing two Simple yet pretty Cards !!

Here is the first card for which I used Hindi Sentiments Stamp set from Peek-a-boo Design..I just love this stamp as this is the first Hindi stamp n that too launched by Indian company along with it is very versatile n can be combined with almost all Indian festivals/ occasions !!
Firstly I choose a wood grain BG paper ..then added some colorful fabric tapes on the panel for some texture n color !! Added a die cut label on which I stamped my sentiment. And for final touch I placed a rose bud besides the sentiment panel. Wanted to focus the sentiment only so kept it quite simple !!

Now to the next card ..this one was super quick n i loved the way  it turned out so colorful !! For this card I used sponged & water drop technique ..haha ..sounds interesting na ? But its only putting distress ink with ink daubeers on to ur card stock & then dropping some water droplets with a brush. Then wait for some seconds to react ink with water n then soak the excess water with paper napkin !
The BG is soo colorful then who can not think of holi ? So added the Holi Sentiment from Peek-a-boo stamp range !! For some interest added silver thread n some sequins !!

Hope you like my cards !!

Thanks for stopping by and do not forget to participate in the ongoing challenge # 3 of this month !!

Hugs..
Happy Crafting !!

Saalgirah ki shubhkamnaye !!

Hi folks wishing you a bright and sunny morning to all you lovely crafters..

Today I have created a pretty anniversary card using our All Occasions - Hindi stamp set and Lotus delight.

I took a card size of 5-7". And a kraft coloured card stock. I scored the kraft card stock at 1/4" to give it a little texture. I die cut a doily and cut them into half and adhered them to the kraft card stock. I them stamped all the. Three sizes of the outline lotus from the Lotus Delight set. And coloured them and later fussy cut them. Made a desired bunch on one of the halves of the doily and stamped my sentiment from All Occasions - Hindi on a white card stock. Cut that into a banner and coloured the edges red. Pasted some bling here and there to jazz up the card.

Closer  view of the card.

Hope you liked my card.

Hello Friends,

I am here today to inspire you for our latest Tic-Tac-Toe challenge

I have created a 12x12 scrapbook layout for this fun challenge and used the center row and column elements !

Playground layout with Plaids, Silver, bling, ribbon border and bold sentiments!

This is a totally shabby layout of the play ground so used the earthy colours and made plaid background with Its Plaid time stamp set

I have stamped with Bold you wordings on a corner of the layout that describes these boys thoughtfully!

The left hand side has the stitched effect stamp from the Plaid time stamp set as the border and Bold You sentiments with Bold hugs n love !

I have given a messy look with water colour crayons all around the layout to make it truely an Boys theme Layout

I have created this Scrapbook Layout to highlight the stamps and resisted the use of Pattern papers and stickers to very limited ! A new try for me !!

I love the way its turned out !!

Festivals + Tutorial

Hello Everyone

With festivals around you have so many reasons to make cards and so the reason for today's post. I know we have good one month for Holi to hit the season but why not start preparing.

I have made 2 cards for the same occasion and here we go:

Step 1: Used the " Its Plaid Time" stamp set to create a background on the card base. I have used the solid and the stitched pattern. Used cocoa pigment ink to create the tone-on-tone look.

Step 2 : Used a piece of Neenah white CS to create the flag for the sentiments.I have used distress ink to create the splash and then heat it with heat gun. Created a mat using a chocolate brown CS.

Step 3 : Yes the final view, the stamps used here is something different and unique.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Project 2 : Card

Technique : Water Color Splash technique
Supplies : Distress Inks | Neenah White CS for base | Stamps | Water Brush | Pigment Ink | Embossing Powder

This Card is a very easy and a quick one to create. It needs no measurement, symmetry. You can flow with the water color drops on the CS and create your own pattern.

The best part of this technique is every time you try it will give a new and a different look and so I say its Unique.

Hope you like it and also will give you some reason to play with us. There is still time to play for this month's challenge.

We are getting some beautiful entries and would love to see more !

Thanks for stopping by!
Lots of Love.

A rainbow of colours ♥

       Good evening friends :)
This is PonMalar, Guest Designing for Peek-a-boo using February release stamp sets. You can see more of my works here at my blog.
This is my first time as a Guest designer & I hope I was up to the expectations!!
Coming to my post, I got these stamp sets from Peek-a-boo along with my winner's package. Such a cute set for focal elements, an awesome striped set for background & the best of all, a great collection of words with Hugs & Love in bold
There are endless possibilities for cards using just these three sets & I made these few just to ponder about those possibilities.

1. In my first card I used distress inks in rainbow shade on Neenah solar white card stock, sprayed liberally with a fine mist of water to activate the colors as I didn't want sharp margins!! Fussy cut a star shape out of the panel, trimmed the border of the star cut-out. Then put them together on black card base & added white embossed sentiments in black to finish the front.
Added that trimmed star cut-out to the inside of the card to complete it.
2. My first ever shaker card. It is a shaker card in black & gold. Used two of those solid striped stamps with gold pigment ink on a black panel. Fussy cut a circle out of it & stuck an acetate sheet to the back. Used black foam tape around the circle margin & filled the shaker area with tiny gold balls. Stamped the word Love from the bold sentiments in gold pigment ink to a black card & finished the shaker part. Gold embossed the Hugs sentiment & added it to the front of the card. Few gold stones to finish the look.

3. This is one fun technique of using a stamp to the maximum. Used a striped stamp from the set to create stripes of blue & yellow on a white card stock. Cut out cloud shapes from the blue & the sun from the yellow. Sponged blue distress inks to the front of the card, added yellow stripes to depict the rays of the sun, pasted the fussy cut clouds & sun using foam tape, white embossed the sentiments. Added few stones to add some shine.
4. What use are stripes without putting together a plaid background. Used black & white on red card stock to create a plaid background. White embossed the sentiment on black & added it to the card using black foam & few red stones for fun!!
5. A simple & easy card, red stripes on white card stock, while masking two hearts cut from a scrap paper. Used the same negative space of the hearts to sponge some Memento inks from the edges. White embossed the sentiment in red card & fussy cut it & added to the front of the card along with few pink stones.

6. My second shaker card & my first Window-shaker. Took a circular card base, fussy cut a circle window on the front panel. Added acetate sheet, then few tiny multi-colored balls, then the second acetate sheet & finally a fussy cut circle to cover up all those double sided tapes. The front circle is colored using distress inks using ink smooching technique. Black embossed the cutie to the inside of the card & water colored using Distress inks.

Hope I didn't bore you with a long post(I did try to keep it short, he he)!! Well, I must say I love these stamp sets, thank you so much Peek-a-boo team for the stamps as well as for this wonderful opportunity. Had so much fun playing with those, hope you all enjoy crafting with these too. Have a great day friends.
       Keep smiling
